agent#

An entity identified by a WebID. An agent can be a person, organization, etc.

ACL#

Access Control List.

Client Identifier#

A Client Identifier is a URI/IRI that uniquely identifies a client application. For Solid, the Client Identifier dereferences to a application/ld+json document.

group#

Group is identified by an Internationalized Resource Identifier (IRI) and consists of members who are agents or other groups.

IRI#

IRI is the Internationalized Resource Identifier (IRI). IRI is similar to URI but uses a Universal Coded Character Set rather whereas URI is limited to US-ASCII character set.

In the documentation, these terms are used interchangeably.

LDP Service#

An ESS service that implements implements the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Linked Data Platform (LDP) specification. For more information, see LDP Service.

Pod#

Storage location for your data. Pod is an acronym for Personal Online Data store.

Pod Server#

Server that hosts/provides Solid Pods.

Solid#

Social Linked Data.

URI#

Uniform Resource Identifier is the official name for those things you see on the Web that begin http: or mailto. For example, http://www.w3.org/ is the URI for the home page of the World Wide Web consortium.

URI uses a US-ASCII character set.

In the documentation, these terms are used interchangeably.
